A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I am a former art teacher and now work with high school students in an educational support classroom. If I'm not at school or working on art, I love to read and am part of a running club.

2. Why do you make art?

Summer is the time when I get to be the most creative. I love doing plein air paintings on locations near my home.

3. What inspires you?

The natural world and everyday objects inspire me. Looking at shapes and patterns within nature are endlessly fascinating.

4. What/who are your influences?

Pierre Bonnard, Emil Nolde and Paul Cezanne have influenced me with their use of color, composition and texture.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Frederick Douglass is one of my heroes. His character, intellect and strength have been a gift to American culture.
